AboutAbout
The LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (formally LaCrosse Interstate Speedway) has been operating since 1957. The facility is located in West Salem at the LaCrosse Interstate Fairgrounds. From 1957 to 1969 the speedway operated as a dirt track. The track’s size and shape comes from the horse racing…as that was a common size for a horse track. In 1970, the track was paved and was to be used exclusively for “stock car auto racing.” 1970 was also the first “year-end special event” for racing in Wisconsin…the Oktoberfest Race Weekend. In 1989, the small quarter mile track was constructed to host more low cost race cars and provide fans with more novelty race events like the popular Trailer Race of Destruction. In 2000, the track began to host “Street Drags” by converting the front-stretch into a 300′ dragstrip. Street cars are the primary focus of these events. The facility has been converted into a concert venue and as a Presidential campaign rally site. In addition, numerous other community events are often held at the facility. Ongoing improvements to the grounds have helped increase the fans comfort and viewing pleasure. Wisconsin’s first NASCAR sanctioned 5/8-mile weekly racing asphalt track is located at the intersection of Hwy 16 & Cty Rd M, in West Salem. Racing is hosted on Saturday nights throughout the summer starting at 7:30PM.

”It is our goal to complete the event on the day it is scheduled. We will do our best to finish or run an event within a reasonable time frame. Should we not complete the event, Rain Checks will be honored at an event equal to the event being halted due to weather. We follow the industry standards to determine if an event has been considered a complete event. An event is considered complete in ½ of all events are run, including time trials, or at least ½ the laps in our main event of the show.”
